MardiCrawl 2014 Date Change

It was NOT an easy decision to make, but the LCPHC has decided to change the date of the 2014 MardiCrawl from February 22 to MARCH 22.

The US Army Corps of Engineers will be dredging Shem Creek for the next several weeks, and their schedule will have their barges, cranes, etc. directly in the vicinity of several of our venues on or about February 22.  We thought we would be able to make some changes and work around it, but more information came to light as to the magnitude of the disruption, not to mention the noise this project will create.  (They will be working 7 days a week until completion).  While they MAY be completed by the Feb 22nd date, it was just too close to call, and we simply couldn’t chance it.

Our first priority (along with our charities) are our attendees.  We want everyone to have fun, and enjoy all that our venues offer, and this project would severely impact that on various levels.

We hope you will join us for our rescheduled “Party With a Purpose”!!!

Thanks!

Happy Thanksgiving from the LCPHC!!

As we gather with family and friends today to give thanks for all we have, it also marks the beginning of the Christmas season. Please don’t forget those less fortunate as you shop the “brown Thursday” and “black Friday” sales…especially the kids who may not have Christmas at all through no fault of their own! Also, don’t forget that while Toys for Tots and many charities collect MANY gifts for the younger kids, many donate to kids up to 18 years old, and are often “short” on gifts for the “teen/tween” set. Here’s a list that one of the LCPHC members built last year with help from her students of things to donate for the “tween/teen”set

(Club members, please don’t forget we will be making a donation to Toys for Tots at our December 17th meeting!!)

1st Annual Folly Beach Pub Crawl 2013

Well, our first ever Folly Beach Pub Crawl/Scavenger Hunt was a great success…we had a total of about 15 participants (Where were you?) who journeyed to seven different pubs on Folly Beach, searching out answers to all the clues to complete their cards, and enjoying drink and food specials as we went.  Once all the answers were found, they returned to the starting point, where all the entries were verified, and then entered into a 50/50 drawing benefiting our 2013 Toys For Tots fund.  Congratulations to Bev, who’s name was selected from all the correct entries.  She took home bragging rights for the next year, and a bit of cool cash, and our Toys for Tots fund was increased too!!  Look for details for our coming 2nd annual crawl!

November Meeting Reminder…

Did you know that most children in the foster care system have to move several times a year?  Did you know that many of them have to pack their belongings in trash bags when they move?  Would you like to do something about it?  Well, here’s your chance!!  At our November 19th meeting, we will be collecting donations of clean suitcases in good, useable condition.  They will be delivered to the Charleston County Department of Social Services the following day, and from there be distributed to foster children in need.

Thank you to all who donated…on Wednesday November 20th we delivered 30 suitcases to the South Carolina DSS for distribution to the foster kids!! Great job!!!
